Unless you are an underground fan, you never hear artists like that on the radio.  In reality, people have been brainwashed into thinking that what they hear on the radio is hip-hop.  It falls terribly short of hip-hop, and may not be worthy of being called rap.  Since 1995, we have seen a trend in the implementation of R&B into hip-hop music.  The problem with that is it has dilluted the music.  Commercial artists like Jay Z, for example, know that the dough will roll in if Blackstreet does the hook for one of his tracks that he, as stated earlier, only writes a couple versus to.  Money now controls hip-hop instead of the artists controlling it, and label execs have become more powerful in determining how an artist’s music will sound. This explains the increase in the number of independent labels because artists have discovered that they lose creative control over their music when they sign on with major labels.

I either record in Wavelab or Cubase.   Mostly Wavelab.    I record my  files as   WAV's.
MONO,   48 000 Hz , 32 bit float .     The 32 bit floating allows me to record  ( HOT ) @ 0 or even  +3db    with limited to no distortion.  
 
My mixing board has a 3 ban EQ per channel.     "remember" that EQ stands for    EQualizer    and is there to "Equalize" the sound.     
Each mixing board is different on how the EQ effects the sound.     (I play with the EQ all the time while mixing. . .  adjusting this lowering that. . .  etc. . . )  but I have a   "GROUND 0" that I always return to
 
High EQ    +2db    or two notches to the +

Mid EQ      -2Db    or two notches to the -

Low EQ       0Db    Flat
 
When the songs are playing by themselves. . .   and I am not doing anything to them.    This is the EQ setup of the track that is being played.     The one I am going to come in with. . .   I set those as I am mixing in. . .  and adjust my "GROUND 0 " accordingly. . .

 I'll try and take care of the collab today. . .     Thanks for the words on the track I put together.   It took me about. . . 4 hours of playing on Fruity Loops.      None of the samples that were used in the song came from Fruity loops.    They came from  Battery.  (Native Instruments)      I am doing something called  (Step Recording)   I don't have a MIDI controller to "play" on like an instrument.     So, from making the music to adding (Flair)  things with phasing/filtering I have to "Draw" it in. . would like to be able to "FEEL" it in by playing. . . . .    My computer is running a 500Mhz processor with 383Mb of ram.(You ever play a video game and when too much is going on the game doesn't run smoothly. . .)    That's how it is when I get too many things going on while putting together tracks.      I cannot make them too involved.    It takes a powerful computer to be able to have multible instruments open, adding different effects to each instrument/sound, different EQ settings. . .   and then the (mixing) of the track. . .   animation to the mixing board. . .       My computer would crash. . .    That's why I would love to get into a studio somewhere.     To get on a system that doesn't have (Power) limitations. .  . OooooHhhhh yeah. . .   a midi controller too.
