Captain George Dick.jpg in People
Captain George Dick also known as One-Eyed Dick (Kai-Pooee) and several other nicknames. He was a Yosemite-Mono Lake Paiute who married Mary and had Sally Ann Dick-Castenegtto and Charlie Dick, who was employed at Yosemite lodge as the official woodcutter. Charlie later married Cosie Hutchings, Yosemite Paiute. Captain Dick was related to Lancisco Wilson. They both were descendent from "Topee na'a" or Rock Father in Paiute. They were famous Yosemite Paiute leaders.

Captian Sam was a leader of the Yosemite Indians. Captain Sam was married to Paiute Susie Sam. Susie died in August of 1903. Captain Sam had a very long life and died in the 1930s. Captain Sam was a Yosemite-Mono Lake Paiute. He and Susie had several children. Leanna, Louisa, George, Mattie and Pete (Pete died very young). Sisters Louisa and Leanna Sam married Paiute Bridgeport Tom and had many children. The family were very prominent basketmakers in Yosemite National Park.

Captain John (Poko Tucket or Shibana) was the leader of the Mono Lake Paiutes. He became Chief of the Yosemite-Mono Lake Paiutes at a very young age. He was chief during the time when non-indigenous people were entering the area. Captain John died in 1924. On his obituary it was said he cured and killed many.
