It will be a small community in the begining, but hopefully it will grow, bringing people with beautiful and important things to share.

Take care,
Lonnie

Your very interesting folders and others' has made us think about opening a community based on Native American things, photos, songs, history, anything that gets put up.
It might mean adding a tag to your folders, to join - would you be interested?
i'm asking people directly because I have found a few people, but their folders are so interesting that they should have a place too, i think.....
Let me know what your thoughts are, if you would.
take care
Lonnie

Today a few of their descendents are claiming to be Southern Sierra Miwuks for federal recognition.

Here is what Captain Sam said he was in 1928.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Awahnee

Someone put Captain Sam's 1928 California Indian Application on their site. So you can view it.

Captain Sam is one of the most important Indians in Yosemite Indian history and yet he is left out of the story of Yosemite. Instead everyone is focusing on Susie Sam, the supposed Miwok, but in Paiute culture of that day Paiute men were the chiefs and captains.

They lived most of their lives in Paiute areas. Captain Sam was one of the founders of the Coleville Colony and also Bridgeport Colony.
