Mr. MOHAMMED ASLAM’s PROFILE:
Thanks to the trend that favours replicas more than the original singers; Aslam has managed to carve a niche for himself in the Indian film industry where he is recognized more for his sonorous voice than his resemblance to Mohammed Rafi. Aslam has sung for many A. R. Rahman’s innovative Tamil compositions like ‘Azhagiya Tamilmagan’, ‘Guru’, ‘Sivaji’, ‘God Father’, ‘Sillunu Oru Kadhal’ etc. He has also rendered his voice to Amir Khan in the Hindi Movie: ‘Rangde Basanti’ (Apni to paathshaala.., Khalbali..), in ‘Guru’ starring Abhishek Bacchan (Ay Hairathe..), for Shahrukh Khan in the Tamil Movie: ‘DESAM’ and the latest rendering being in the Movie: ‘Jaane Tu Jaane Na’. His songs Apni to paathshaala.. has been awarded with ‘Song Of The Year – 2006’ by NDTV and Ponmagal vandal.... as ‘Remix of the Year – 2007’ by StarTV Vijay.
He has also sung for A.R.Raihana’s (A.R.Rahman’s sister) terrific debut composition for the Tamil Movie: ‘Aadhada Aata Illaam’. His songs from the Tamil movies ‘Love Today’, ‘Naatamae’, ‘Poovae Unnakkagha’, ‘Soorya Vamsam’, and the light classical number, Yein Penn Endru... are top hits with the south India music lovers. In addition, Aslam has sung for other south Indian movies like ‘Anatharu’, ‘Kannu’, ‘Pallaki’ (Kannada), ‘Captain Prabhkar’ (Telugu) and other Private Kannada & Malayalam Albums. He also has to his credit CDs and music cassettes paying tribute to Mohammed Rafi & Kishore Kumar and a blend of Old & New Hindi hits.
Aslam has undergone world tours with the legendary A. R. Rahman to United States of America, London, Singapore, Australia, India (Pondicherry & Bangalore) and performed in the A.R. Rahman– Live 3D show. Even individually, Aslam has executed many musical concerts all over the world including US, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Gulf countries (UAE, Doha Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait Saudi Arabia.. ) and India. He has performed stage shows with Pop Queen – Usha Uthup, the melody King Dr. K. J. Yesudas, and other leading personalities like Hariharan, Daler Mehndi, Sadhna Sargam, Chitra, Anu Mallik, Abhijeet, Salman Khan, Mithun Chakrwarthy etc. His Live - shows and other musical programmes (Symphony) frequently appear on TV channels like Star Plus, Star Vijay, KAIRALI, Surya TV, Asianet, DD - Malayalam etc.
Aslam has his own orchestra, Pallavi, in Calicut. The voice of Aslam takes one to the golden days when he sings Rafi songs. Aslam is a laudable singer; his magic voice enthralls the audience. For one who didn’t have any formal training in music and no burning desire to be a famous playback singer, Aslam has done pretty well for himself.
