Mike Stories
This page will be where I'll keep some of my personal stories. Every family has them and few are written down, but are instead passed on to our children in the oral tradition. The "Bible Stories" are not mine, they were composed by my late mother-in-law, Elvie McClennan who lived with us for the last 15 years of her life. She was a multi-talented lady and I loved her very much.

Dear Mike, You and I feel the very same thing when it comes to animals. I never have hunted or killed any but I have something to confess too. When I was a very little girl, my family would go "down home" to the hills in southeast Ohio. My grandparents live on a farm, he raised vegetables and some livestock.  He loved to go coon hunting and also shot squirrels to eat. Well, when you are only 3,4,or eight years old, you don't think about things too much--everything comes in stride, especially when you are visiting a place as exciting as a farm.  My grandmother along with my mom, would fix Sunday dinner and a lot of times that would include the squirrels my grandfather so easily shot. I can remember sitting around that that farm table and all of us enjoying the huge amount of food we were blessed with.  One incident that my mom used to love to tell was about me sitting there at that table, and saying " PLease pass the squirrel juice (gravy) to me!" Everybody thought that was so funny. Now when I look back, it's hard to imagine me even thinking that!  This story came to mind when I read your "hunting" story.  Anyway, I am glad we both feel the same about that.  I love your idea of a folder of your family stories--I love to read and will look forward to them.  Yours truly, Catherine
