Let me begin with what these commercials are all about. The commercial titled 'Confluence' advertises a South Zone Inter-college cultural festival conducted by the Commerce Department of the college in which I studied. Confluence celebrated its tenth year of success in 2005. One major reason for its immense popularity is the presence of a plethora of stars from the Cine industry. Therefore, quite predictably, Confluence is a major hit with the adults and the youth alike. We were in our second year of graduation when we were suddenly struck with the idea of coming up with a commercial for the great event! The creative genius of our gang, (‘mots’ we call her) came up with a brilliant concept which we developed into a full fledged ad. Our joy knew no bounds when it finally got selected as the official ad of Confluence-05 and we couldn’t look back at the days when our precious ad was screened in front of packed audiences without swelling our chests with pride. No matter what other commercials we did, till date, Confluence has been our all time favorite!
Contagion on the other hand is a South Zone Inter-college cultural festival conducted by the Communication department. Contagion was making a come back after four years.The name was quickly fading away from the public memory.We had to bring back the past glories!Originally, this promo was targeted towards the laymen who comes to the theatres, and we did the best we can!But as fate would have it, the treasurer calmly told us that the committe didnt have enough budget to screen it in the theatres as promised.Time was running short and we needed to act quickly.We decided to spread across the city and finally managed to distribute the cds in various tv showrooms, malls, electronic outlets etc. At the end of the day, we got more publicity with our ad running throughout the city than the publicity we could have got through advertising in one single theatre!!I totally agree with Shakespeare when i say 'all's well that ends well' !!
